Unkle's Info
In 1993, according to turntablist legend, a 20-year old Californian named Josh Davis, a.k.a. DJ Shadow, single-handedly launched trip-hop with his single, "In/Flux." A few years later, his 1996 album, Endtroducing, had critics throwing around phrases like "an undeniable hip-hop masterpiece," and "the creepiest, deadliest piece of work since Ian Curtis hung himself and Joy Division turned into New Oder." NOw, as UNKLE., Shadow and Mo'Wax records founder James Lavello have realeased Psyence Fiction, featuring guest spots from the Verve's Richard Asheroft, Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Metallica's Jason Newsted and others.
